Garmin rolls out a major update in June for its connected watches and cycling computers

Garmin is not idle this summer! The American connected watch and GPS giant has just announced a wave of updates for many of its flagship products. On the menu for this โ€œJune 2024 Feature Updateโ€: new features and improvements for the Fenix โ€‹โ€‹7, Forerunner, Venu and Edge series. A deployment which will extend throughout the month of June.

Garmin connected watches in the spotlight

If Garmin is used to pampering the participants in its beta program, this time, it is the turn of the stable versions to benefit from the latest new features. There are numerous watches eligible for this June 2024 update:

  • The Forerunner 165, 265, 965 but also the old 255 and 955
  • The entire Fenix โ€‹โ€‹7 range and its variations
  • The Venu 3 and Vivoactive 5
  • Enough to delight a large number of Garmin users, from occasional sportsmen to experienced athletes. Among the most notable new features, we can cite:

  • The Garmin Messenger app to stay in touch during your outings
  • A handy โ€œFind my phoneโ€ function in case of carelessness
  • Improvements to navigation mode with new points of interest
  • So many additions that enrich the user experience and reinforce the versatility of Garmin watches.

    Edge bike computers also updated

But watches are not the only ones to benefit from this โ€œJune 2024 Feature Updateโ€. Garmin is also updating several of its high-end cycling computers:

  • The Edge Explore 2, the perfect companion for cycle tourists
  • The Edge 540 and 840, intended for the most demanding cyclists
  • The all-new Edge 1080, flagship of the range
  • Certainly, the new features are fewer in number than on watches, but cyclists will still appreciate the addition of the โ€œPin navigationโ€ function, common to both types of devices.

A gradual deployment throughout the month

As is often the case with this type of major update, Garmin has opted for a smooth deployment. Some users can already install the โ€œJune 2024 Feature Updateโ€, while others will have to wait a few more weeks.

Unfortunately, Garmin has not communicated the precise build numbers of this new software version. It is therefore difficult to know in advance if your watch or your meter is eligible without going to the update settings.

Never mind, this announcement confirms Garmin's desire to take care of its products over the long term by regularly providing them with new features. A profitable strategy that allows the brand to stand out in a very competitive sector, dominated by the giants Apple and Samsung.

So, if you own a Garmin watch or an Edge computer, watch for the arrival of this โ€œJune 2024 Feature Updateโ€ in the coming days. Beautiful surprises await you to fully enjoy your sporting activities this summer!
