A famous leaker has just confirmed rumors that Google is preparing to launch the Pixel Watch 3 in two sizes. After sharing images of the classic Pixel Watch 3, he returns with a new series of renders featuring the Pixel Watch 3 XL, revealing some additional details such as the size of its screen.
A design close to the Pixel Watch 3, but with a more imposing case
Until now, Google only offered one size per smartwatch generation. However, persistent rumors suggested that the company had developed two successors to the Pixel Watch 2 (currently $289.99 on Amazon). A few days ago, @OnLeaks previewed the Pixel Watch 3, which would feature an unchanged 1.2-inch screen, surrounded by thinner bezels. As a result, the Pixel Watch 3 would be slightly smaller than its predecessor, while maintaining compatibility with existing bracelets.
According to @OnLeaks and Android Headlines, the same would not be true for its big sister, the Pixel Watch 3 XL. Indeed, Google would have opted for a wider bracelet connector on this model, making all existing Pixel Watch bracelets incompatible.
Small dimensions despite a 1.45 inch screen
According to Android Headlines, the Pixel Watch 3 XL would measure 45 x 45 x 13.89 mm. It would therefore be smaller than the Galaxy Watch6 Classic in the 47 mm version and the Apple Watch Ultra 2. On the other hand, these dimensions would place it slightly above the Galaxy Watch6 44 mm or the Apple Watch Series 9 45 mm. . Regardless, moving to a 45mm body will allow Google to integrate a 1.45-inch display.
We can assume that the Pixel Watch 3 XL will offer better battery life than its little sister thanks to a more generous battery, but neither @OnLeaks nor Android Headlines have published information on this subject.
A release planned for when?
For now, Google has not yet made the existence of the Pixel Watch 3 XL official, and even less its release date. However, if we rely on the schedule of previous generations, we can expect a presentation in fall 2024, at the same time as the new Pixel 8 smartphones.
It remains to be seen whether this XL version will appeal to fans of connected watches looking for a larger screen and improved battery life. However, the non-compatibility with existing bracelets could put off some. To be continued!
