The affordable connected watch with sapphire crystal and blood pressure monitoring!

Samsung has just unveiled its new Galaxy Watch FE connected watch, shortly before the highly anticipated arrivals of the Galaxy Watch7 series and the new Galaxy Watch Ultra. Available from June 24 for less than โ‚ฌ200, this affordable watch is equipped with a Super AMOLED screen protected by sapphire glass and Samsung's BioActive sensor.

A Galaxy Watch4 brought up to date

The Galaxy Watch FE is essentially a revamped version of the Galaxy Watch4. Samsung has retained the majority of the technical characteristics of its old watch, including:

  • The Exynos W920 processor with 2 CPU cores clocked at 1.18 GHz
  • 1.5 GB of RAM
  • 16 GB of internal storage
  • A 247 mAh battery with WPC wireless charging support
  • Samsung's BioActive sensor (optical heart rate, ECG, bioelectrical impedance analysis, blood pressure)
  • However, Samsung has skipped the 44mm variant previously offered in the Galaxy Watch4 series, leaving only the 40mm option for the Galaxy Watch FE. This is therefore exclusively equipped with a 1.2-inch Super AMOLED screen displaying a resolution of 396 x 396 pixels.

A sapphire crystal for enhanced protection

The main new hardware feature of the Galaxy Watch FE lies in the protection of its screen. Samsung has opted for sapphire glass, a material renowned for its robustness and scratch resistance. This choice demonstrates the brand's desire to offer a durable watch, capable of withstanding the hazards of everyday life.

Sapphire crystal is frequently used in traditional high-end watchmaking, but it is still not very common in the world of connected watches. Its integration on the Galaxy Watch FE is therefore an undeniable asset to stand out from the competition in the affordable watch segment.

A 4G version coming, but not right away

Surprisingly, Samsung chose not to offer a cellular version of the Galaxy Watch FE at launch. The brand has, however, promised to market a 4G variant later in the year, at a price of โ‚ฌ249.

In the meantime, the Galaxy Watch FE will only be available in Bluetooth/Wi-Fi version, at a price of โ‚ฌ199. An aggressive pricing positioning which should appeal to users looking for a complete connected watch without breaking the bank.

    A minimalist and elegant design

True to form, Samsung offers the Galaxy Watch FE in three colors: black, blue and rose gold. New matching straps will also be available to personalize the watch according to your taste and style.

With its 40mm case and sleek design, the Galaxy Watch FE is discreet and elegant on the wrist. Its Super AMOLED screen offers vivid colors and deep contrasts, for optimal readability in all circumstances.

The Galaxy Watch FE is a versatile watch, suitable for both sports and everyday use. Its BioActive sensor allows complete monitoring of physical activity and health, with advanced features such as measuring blood pressure or performing an electrocardiogram.

With this new addition to its range, Samsung consolidates its position in the affordable connected watch market. The Galaxy Watch FE has everything it needs to appeal to a wide audience, thanks to its excellent value for money and its premium features, such as its sapphire crystal or blood pressure monitoring. There is no doubt that it will quickly find its place on the wrist of fans of connected watches, while waiting for the brand's next more high-end releases.
