Tudor has just unveiled its latest creation at the Watches & Wonders 2024 show: the Black Bay 58 GMT. This new watch, with a 39mm case, is inspired by the golden age of air travel and pays homage to the famous Tudor reference 7924 โBig Crownโ. The Black Bay 58 GMT fits perfectly into the current Black Bay collection, combining vintage details with a case size favored by watch enthusiasts and enthusiasts.
A successful vintage design
The Black Bay 58 GMT is not simply a scaled down version of the 41mm Black Bay GMT. It features reworked proportions and a thinner case. The 39mm case measures 12.8mm thick with a lug-to-lug height of 47.8mm, with a screw-down crown and water resistance to 200 meters.
At the moment only one version is available, but you have the choice between a steel bracelet or a black rubber strap. The three-link โrivet styleโ bracelet is inspired by bracelets from the 1950s and 1960s, with a slight taper from the clasp to the end link. The rubber strap can be cut to the desired size. Both options feature Tudor's T-fit clasp, which allows adjustment of up to 8mm without tools.
Careful details that make the difference
Vintage touches are everywhere in this watch, starting with the bidirectional burgundy and black bezel with a gold finish on the 24-hour scale. The โsnowflakeโ indexes and hands also reinforce the retro character of the watch.
Inside, we find the COSC-certified GMT MT5450-U manufacture caliber, equipped with a silicon balance spring and offering a power reserve of 65 hours. This robust and precise movement meets the requirements of a true Black Bay diving watch.
A predicted success
There is no doubt that the Tudor Black Bay 58 GMT will be a huge success. Many enthusiasts were waiting for a GMT in this size, with the same technical characteristics as a Black Bay.
The Tudor Black Bay 58 GMT is priced at โฌ3,700 on a rubber strap and โฌ3,900 on a steel bracelet. Competitive pricing for a watch of this quality, which is sure to appeal to fans of vintage watches, GMTs and the famous Black Bay collection.
