It's a rare and exciting event: Ferrari's next hypercar, replacing the legendary LaFerrari, was surprised on the road in its production outfit. Well almost, since it still remains largely hidden under a thick layer of black camouflage. But this prototype already tells us a lot about the future flagship of the prancing horse, which promises to be ultra-profiled, equipped with gull-wing doors and a central exhaust. Enough to make enthusiasts salivate while waiting for its official presentation.
A highly confidential prototype
It's not every day that Ferrari unveils a new hypercar, so when images of the brand's future flagship landed in our inbox, excitement was at its peak. The car you're looking at will serve as a spiritual successor to the LaFerrari hybrid and sit above the SF90 Stradale in the lineup.
This isn't the first time we've spotted this cutting-edge Ferrari, known internally as the F250. Prototypes have been spotted numerous times near the brand's Italian headquarters over the past year, but all sported fake bodywork and imposing rear spoilers. This mule is different, as the production bodywork is believed to be hidden beneath the thick black cladding.
A sharp design despite the camouflage
Even if many details are still hidden, we can already guess the sharp lines of this Ferrari F250. At the front, we can see under the black fabric a large grille with a central pillar which seems to rise from the splitter. The car also has two large air intakes on either side of the grille.
The nose of this prototype is very low and the bodywork rises smoothly towards a pair of tapered headlights. A perforated area on the hood, which appears to be zipped in place, likely hides aerodynamic air extractors.
Other notable elements:
A 296 GTB-style central exhaust
The rear is not left out. In the center there is a simple exhaust pipe, like on the 296 GTB and GTS. The car also sports an aggressive diffuser with huge aerodynamic fins to pin the rear axle to the ground.
On the engine side, the mystery remains. The F250 will inevitably adopt some form of hybridization, but we do not yet know whether it will rely on a V6 or a V8. One option that seems excluded is the naturally aspirated V12, which will be reserved for the Purosangue, the 12Cilindri and any limited series that Ferrari could launch.
Confidential production and exclusive variations
According to our spy photographers, production of this newcomer will be limited to 599 units. Ferrari could then offer:
Figures which confirm the exclusivity of this future hypercar with the prancing horse, whose arrival is awaited with immense impatience by wealthy customers and enthusiasts of the brand. Even if this camouflaged prototype does not yet reveal all its secrets, it gives a tantalizing foretaste of the monster of power and technology which is preparing to take over from the iconic LaFerrari. See you in the coming months to finally discover the details!
