The Samsung watch which will compete with the Apple Watch Ultra will display a new design for the brand.
An innovative design to compete with Apple
After appearing in initial renders, the Galaxy Watch Ultra, Samsung's watch that will directly compete with the Apple Watch Ultra 2, has surfaced in leaked promotional images. These images reveal a design that we are not used to for the brand's devices, as well as its supposed price.
This Galaxy Watch Ultra — also known as Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra — is expected to feature higher specs than the rest of Samsung's smartwatch family, in addition to looking very different. According to the images, the watch would have a 47mm square case with very rounded corners, but its screen would be completely round. It would also have Samsung's famous bezel (although we do not know if it will be rotating like on other watches from the brand).
Galaxy Watch Ultra Key Features
The Galaxy Watch Ultra will also feature an orange-colored button, similar to the action button found on the Apple Watch Ultra, although its exact function on the Samsung model remains unknown. Early rumors indicated that this orange element could be a rotating crown, but it seems more likely that it's a configurable action button to open, say, a specific app or sports mode.
Galaxy Watch Ultra price and availability
The Galaxy Watch Ultra will be available in two colors: black and white/silver. Although it hasn't been confirmed whether the case will be made of titanium, it's likely given that the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra has frames made of this material. The watch will also be equipped with a sporty silicone strap.
In terms of technical specifications, we know that the Galaxy Watch Ultra's screen will reach a brightness of 3,000 nits and that it will have a 590 mAh battery, according to 91mobiles. The watch will be priced between $699 and $710, making it the most expensive smartwatch in the company's history. However, if this price is confirmed, Samsung's smartwatch would cost 100 euros less than the Apple Watch Ultra 2, which is sold at $799.
Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch 7 Pro launched
In addition to the Galaxy Watch Ultra, Samsung will launch the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch 7 Pro in the coming months, which will be priced starting at $299. The launch date of these watches has not yet been revealed, but it is likely that they will arrive with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6.
