New Lexus Supercar Challenges Aston Martin and Mercedes with Biturbo V8

The replacement for the Lexus LC should easily exceed 600 hp and could arrive on the market in 2026. Discover the details of this future Japanese supercar which promises to be formidable against its European competitors.

A common base with the Toyota GR GT3

The new supercar from Toyota/Lexus will be based on the GR GT3 racing car currently being developed by Toyota. This road-going variant will rival other powerful front-engined sports cars like the Mercedes-AMG GT and Aston Martin Vantage. Several prototypes of the racing car have been seen testing in recent weeks, including at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.

A design inspired by the 2022 GR GT3 concept

The design of the new Lexus supercar is heavily inspired by the GR GT3 concept unveiled in 2022. This car will replace the now outdated Lexus RC F GT3. Homologation rules require Toyota/Lexus to launch a road version using the same basic design as the racing car.

A hybrid twin-turbo V8 engine with more than 650 hp

The road version will share its basic powertrain with the race car. Spy videos have revealed that the GR GT3 is equipped with a twin-turbo V8, and the production model could also benefit from hybrid assistance. To compete with the 2025 Aston Martin Vantage, the new Lexus will need to develop around 650 hp, a goal easily achievable with a supercharged V8 combined with a hybrid system. It is even possible that the new Lexus will target the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 E Performance and its 805 hp provided by its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 hybrid.

A major replacement for the LC 500

Whatever its final power, this new model appears to be a worthy replacement for the Lexus LC 500. Visually, the car will closely resemble the prototypes, but without the disproportionate aerodynamic appendages. We can expect a long hood, like its rivals, with a large front grille and aggressive LED headlights. Like the LC, it will be low and wide, with a sculpted rear with a large spoiler and tapered taillights.

A launch planned for 2026?

The interior remains a mystery, but Lexus would do well to take inspiration from the LC's superb cabin. The racing car will debut at the 24 Hours of Daytona in January 2026. According to Autocar speculation, the road version could also be launched in 2026.

This new Lexus supercar promises to be a serious competitor for the European leaders in the segment. With its powerful hybrid twin-turbo V8 and its competition-inspired design, it has all the assets to become the new Japanese benchmark in terms of sportiness and performance.
