New names and model numbers of Samsung's flagship smartwatches revealed in leak

Samsung is preparing an offensive on the high-end smartwatch market with its first Ultra variant planned for 2024, according to a new leak.

Galaxy Watch Ultra and Galaxy Watch7 models revealed

Samsung appears ready to directly compete with the Apple Watch Ultra line in 2024 with a new high-end Galaxy Watch. According to a recent NBTC filing, the Thai regulator has confirmed that the SM-L705F, or Galaxy Watch Ultra, is among Samsung's latest smartwatches. Additionally, the SM-L315F and SM-L305F models are expected to launch as two versions of the same Galaxy Watch7.

All new smartwatches confirmed so far will have LTE connectivity, although they will differ in size and specifications. The Galaxy Watch Ultra, with a 47mm case, is projected as the most expensive of the generation, while the SM-L315F and SM-L305F models will be satisfied with formats of 44mm and 40mm respectively. No alternatives such as the 43mm Watch6 Custom Edition are being considered at this time.

Expected features of the Galaxy Watch Ultra

Samsung's Galaxy Watch Ultra is anticipated to be a direct competitor to the Apple Watch Ultra, with premium features and build quality. Here are some potential features based on rumors and leaks:

  • 47mm case: A larger size for a larger screen and better readability.
  • LTE connectivity: Allowing independent use of the smartphone.
  • Premium materials: Possibly titanium or stainless steel for increased durability.
  • Advanced health tracking features: Including sensors for heart rate, blood oxygenation and potentially an electrocardiogram (ECG).
  • Galaxy Watch7 models: size and specifications

The SM-L315F and SM-L305F, expected to launch as Galaxy Watch7, are expected with case sizes of 44mm and 40mm. These variations will likely offer options to suit different wrist size and style preferences. Here's what we can expect:

  • LTE connectivity: Like the Ultra version, these watches will be equipped with 4G/LTE connectivity for smartphone independence.
  • Sleek, compact designs: Smaller cases for a more discreet look and more comfortable everyday use.
  • Customization options: Different strap materials and colors to meet users' varied tastes.
  • Price and availability

None of the successors to the Watch6 series are likely to be cheap, as all are now allowed to use 4G/LTE in Thailand. The Galaxy Watch Ultra, in particular, is projected to be the most expensive due to its larger body and premium specs. The Galaxy Watch7 models, while less expensive, are also expected to be positioned in a high price range, reflecting their advanced connectivity and features.

In conclusion, Samsung looks set to push the boundaries with its new smartwatches in 2024. By introducing an Ultra variant and expanding the Galaxy Watch7 lineup, Samsung aims to provide options for different market segments, while maintaining quality and innovation exceptional.
