The price of this American supercar has exploded, you won't believe your eyes!

The second-generation Ford GT is seeing its popularity soar on the second-hand market. With average prices exceeding 800,000 euros, this car made in the USA is now on par with the most exclusive European supercars. Find out why this automotive icon is so popular.

A spectacular valuation

The 2017 Ford GT is experiencing an impressive increase in value on the used market. While its initial sale price was around $500,000, its price now reaches $804,000 on average according to Hagerty's estimates.

This spectacular valuation can be explained by several factors. First of all, the very limited production of this model makes it a rare and sought-after vehicle. With only 1,350 examples produced between 2017 and 2022, the GT is significantly more exclusive than its European competitors.

The historical prestige of the Ford GT also plays a major role. Heir to the legendary GT40s that won at Le Mans in the 1960s, it enjoys an incomparable aura among collectors and car enthusiasts.

Limited editions that are snapped up

If the base model is already reaching new heights, certain special editions of the Ford GT are trading at even higher prices. The Heritage Edition versions, which pay homage to the racing GT40s, are particularly popular.

A 2019 Ford GT Heritage Edition was sold at auction for the astronomical sum of $2.5 million. Other examples have exceeded a million dollars, such as a Heritage Edition from 2017 which sold for $1.54 million.

These figures place the Ford GT in the big leagues, competing with supercars that are much more expensive to buy. It even surpasses certain Lamborghini or Ferrari models in terms of valuation.

Performances worthy of the best Europeans

The Ford GT also achieves such heights thanks to its exceptional performance. Its 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine develops 674 horsepower, propelling the car from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds.

Its top speed of 347 km/h puts it among the fastest supercars on the market. It thus competes with models such as the McLaren 720S or the Lamborghini Aventador, which were much more expensive at the time.

The carbon fiber chassis and sophisticated aerodynamics allow the GT to display remarkable performance on the track. Its design was also designed for competition, with a racing version entered in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Production stopped, scarcity increases

Production of the road-going Ford GT ended in 2022, which only adds to its rarity and collector appeal. Ford has not announced a direct successor, focusing on other segments like SUVs and pickups.

The manufacturer nevertheless offered a final hurrah to the GT with a final version called MK IV. Limited to 67 copies and reserved for use on the circuit, this final edition has a base price of 1.7 million dollars.

Ford's decision not to continue production of the GT helps to solidify its status as a collector's item. Current owners can expect to see the value of their vehicle continue to increase in the years to come.

A lucrative investment

Given its spectacular valuation, the Ford GT stands out as a particularly interesting investment for wealthy collectors. In just a few years, its value has more than doubled, far surpassing inflation and traditional financial investments.

The best-preserved models with low mileage are particularly sought after. Some owners do not hesitate to keep their GT as a true collector's item, limiting its use to preserve its value.

This upward trend is expected to continue in the years to come, with the Ford GT establishing itself as a true icon of the 21st century American automobile.

An uncertain future for thermal supercars

The Ford GT's price surge comes at a particular time for the automotive industry. With the shift to electric, the future of combustion-engined supercars seems uncertain.

Many manufacturers are gradually abandoning gasoline engines in favor of hybrid or all-electric engines. In this context, models like the Ford GT could well represent the swan song of thermal supercars.

This planned rarity only reinforces the appeal of the GT among collectors and enthusiasts. It embodies a certain idea of โ€‹โ€‹the sports car, combining performance, sensations and the characteristic sound of the twin-turbo V6.

The second-generation Ford GT stands out as one of the most desirable supercars of the moment. Its history, its performance and its rarity make it a true collector's item whose value continues to rise. With prices now exceeding those of many European hypercars, it proves that the American dream still has a bright future ahead of it in the automotive world.
