The next Apple Watch is celebrating its 10th anniversary, and rumors are flying. But the feature fans want most may be missing. Find out why this absence may not hinder its success.
A design that doesn't change one iota
Recent leaks about the Apple Watch X suggest disappointment for fans of aesthetic novelties. Despite the symbolic importance of this 10th anniversary, the Cupertino giant seems to opt for continuity rather than revolution.
Renders leaked by 91mobiles show a watch that looks almost identical to the Series 9:
โ Same rounded rectangular shapeโ Same side digital crownโ Same single side button
The only potential change: a slightly larger 2-inch screen. Enough to make fans who were hoping to see some of the design elements of the Ultra series become more mainstream, cringe.
The Action button, the great absentee from the party
The most missed feature on this potential Apple Watch X is undoubtedly the Action button. Present on the Ultra and Ultra 2 models, this third customizable control point offers flexibility appreciated by users.
Its possibilities are numerous:
โ Start a workoutโ Turn on the flashlightโ Set a waypointโ Run a saved shortcut
Unfortunately, Apple seems to reserve this feature for its high-end models, ignoring the customization needs of standard-range users.
A segmentation strategy that raises questions
Apple's decision to limit the Action button to Ultra models raises questions:
โ Why deprive users of the standard range of this flexibility?โ Are the needs for customization really the prerogative of premium models?โ Does this segmentation not risk frustrating part of the clientele?
The lack of diversity in case sizes in the Ultra range adds to this frustration. Users who want a compact model with an Action button are faced with a difficult choice.
A commercial success despite everything?
Despite these potential disappointments, the Apple Watch X could well be a commercial success:
โ The loyalty of the Apple user baseโ Internal technical improvements (processor, sensors, etc.)โ The ever-richer ecosystem of applications and features
The Apple brand has proven in the past its ability to gain acceptance for gradual changes rather than brutal revolutions.
The absence of the Action button on the Apple Watch X, if confirmed, will undoubtedly be a disappointment for many fans. However, the intrinsic qualities of the watch and the strength of the Apple ecosystem could well be enough to make it a commercial success.
What do you think? Would the lack of the Action button be a deal-breaker for you, or are you willing to overlook it to enjoy the other benefits of the Apple Watch? Share your thoughts in the comments!
