Ferrari innovates with a revolutionary 16-year warranty for its hybrid models

In a bold move, Ferrari has become the first automaker to offer a warranty of up to 16 years for its plug-in hybrid vehicles. The unprecedented offer includes free battery replacement, but the annual cost remains high.

An unprecedented guarantee in the automotive industry

As the automotive industry moves towards electrification, hybrid vehicles dominate sales, and plug-in hybrids are seen as a key step in the transition to pure electric. In this context, Ferrari is leading the way by announcing an exceptional warranty for its plug-in hybrid models.

This initiative concerns the following models: SF90 Stradale, SF90 Spider, SF90 XX Stradale, SF90 XX Spider, 296 GTB and 296 GTS. Ferrari specifies that all owners of these models can subscribe to this extended warranty, even if the original three-year warranty has already expired.

Two innovative warranty programs

Ferrari offers two distinct programs: Warranty Extension Hybrid and Power Hybrid. Both options can be purchased for periods of two or four years, with no age limit on the vehicle.

The Warranty Extension Hybrid program extends the warranty to the entire vehicle. The most remarkable aspect is that if the warranty is extended to the eighth year, Ferrari undertakes to replace the vehicle's high-voltage battery free of charge.

The Power Hybrid program goes even further, extending the factory warranty on all major powertrain components, including those related to the hybrid system, from year 8 to year 16. In addition, a new battery would be installed again free of charge at year 16.

Additional benefits for owners

Ferrari adds two interesting points regarding these programs:

1. The warranty is transferable in the event of sale of the vehicle, allowing the new owner to benefit from it.

2. In the event of future technological advances in the field of batteries, the replacement will be made with a latest generation battery, potentially more efficient or effective than the original.

A significant cost

As expected from Ferrari, this exceptional guarantee comes at a hefty price. According to Bloomberg, the annual subscription cost is โ‚ฌ7,000.

A bold strategy in a changing market

This move by Ferrari demonstrates the manufacturer's confidence in the reliability of its hybrid systems. It also aims to reassure potential buyers about the durability and long-term value of these high-end vehicles.

By offering such a long warranty and including battery replacement, Ferrari is addressing one of the main concerns consumers have about electrified vehicles: the lifespan and cost of replacing batteries.

This strategy could influence other luxury and supercar manufacturers, prompting them to offer similar warranties to remain competitive in a changing market.

In conclusion, while the cost of this extended warranty is high, it represents a significant innovation in the luxury automotive industry. It could redefine consumer expectations for high-end hybrid and electric vehicles, while strengthening Ferrari's position as a leader in this segment.
