A new addition to the Garmin family is set to capture the attention of running enthusiasts, although it may not be the highly anticipated Fenix โโ8. Discover the Forerunner 165, a mid-range model that promises performance and elegance.
Emergence of a Garmin Novelty
Rumors are flying in the connected watch world: Garmin, the undisputed leader in sports watches, is about to enrich its range with a brand new watch. However, fans of the Fenix โโseries should hold their breath โ it will not be the much-anticipated Fenix โโ8, but rather a model aimed at runners looking for excellent value for money, the Forerunner 165.
It was Florian from Fitness Tracker Test, often the first to know about launches, who spotted the warning signs on the company's own website. Although there are currently no images, he noted listings for several new devices from Garmin.
Innovative Design and Display
The Forerunner 165, while similar in size to the Forerunner 55 โ just one millimeter difference in diameter โ stands out for its AMOLED display. A significant improvement over the memory-in-pixel panel of the previous model. This new display offers significantly higher resolution, for an unprecedented viewing experience in this price range.
Autonomy and Performance
Even though the AMOLED display consumes more power, Garmin promises impressive battery life for the newcomer: up to 11 days in smartwatch mode. That's slightly less than the 14 days offered by the Forerunner 55 but still better than many competitors on the market.
Comparison with the Forerunner 265
Where the main difference between the Forerunner 165 and the Forerunner 265 is in multisport versatility. The Forerunner 265 is designed as a triathlon watch that can combine swimming, cycling and running into a single programmed activity. In contrast, the Forerunner 165 should allow you to track these sports individually but not together. In addition, it seems that the new model will be available in one size, unlike the Forerunner 265 which offers two different sizes.
While we're still waiting for the official announcement to confirm these details, it's possible that some devices listed on the website may never reach the shelves โ as was the case with a certain edition of the Garmin Instinct 2 that was spotted and then disappeared without a trace.
