Swedish electric vehicle manufacturer Polestar is making a splash at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed โโwith the unveiling of its spectacular BST Concept prototype, heralding a new generation of high-performance models.
A breathtaking electric roadster
The 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed, taking place this weekend in West Sussex, welcomes a special guest: the Polestar BST Concept. This spectacular electric prototype, unveiled by the Swedish manufacturer, heralds a new era of electric sports cars for the brand.
Based on the O2 concept presented in 2022, the BST Concept is an electric roadster that announces the future production Polestar 6. It shares its aluminum platform (Polestar Performance Architecture โ PPA) with the Polestar 5, thus positioning the future model at the top of the current range.
An aggressive and efficient design
The Polestar BST Concept stands out with its decidedly sporty and aggressive appearance. Its bespoke bodywork, clad in a classic motorsport silver, features muscular and flared wheel arches. Wider tracks and 22-inch forged wheels accentuate its athletic stance.
The aerodynamically optimized hood features an exclusive vented design. The front is highlighted by an aggressive splitter, while the rear is adorned with an imposing spoiler. The whole is completed by graphics inspired by racing liveries.
Electrifying power
While Polestar hasn't revealed powertrain details, we can expect a dual-electric motor, all-wheel-drive setup. The production Polestar 6 is expected to produce around 900 hp and sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds.
A BST variant could reach 1,000 hp and go under the 3-second mark for 0 to 100 km/h. This hypothesis is based on the example of the Polestar 2, which benefited from similar improvements when its BST version was launched.
A notable presence at Goodwood
The Polestar BST Concept wonโt be alone in the spotlight at Goodwood. It will be joined on the brandโs stand by the Polestar 6 Concept, which will make its first climb up the famous hill this year. The new Polestar 3 and 4 will also be present, alongside the Polestar 2.
The production Polestar 6 is expected to go on sale in 2026, with production limited to 500 units for the first year. However, the brand assures that the model will remain on sale as long as demand is there.
A vision for the future for Polestar
Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar, said: โThe Goodwood Festival of Speed โโbrings together the most exciting cars and the most enthusiastic audiences, so itโs the perfect place to showcase our Polestar Concept BST.โ
He added: โThis car demonstrates how far we can go with our high-performance brand and illustrates how we could apply the BST formula to our range in the future.โ
A promising future for electric sports cars
The presentation of the Polestar BST Concept at Goodwood marks a significant milestone in the Swedish brandโs evolution. By combining bold design, electric performance and cutting-edge technology, Polestar is affirming its ambition to become a major player in the electric sports car segment.
This concept heralds a new era for high-performance vehicles, where electrification no longer rhymes with compromise but with excellence and thrills. The future Polestar 6 and its potential BST versions could well redefine the standards of the segment, offering enthusiasts an electrifying alternative to traditional thermal sports cars.
With this presentation, Polestar demonstrates its ability to combine the sporting heritage of the automobile with technological innovation, promising an exciting future for lovers of high-performance and environmentally friendly cars.
