a legendary return to the era of zero-emission SUVs

The famous brand with the blue oval is resurrecting one of its most iconic models in the form of a 100% electric SUV. Combining stylistic heritage and cutting-edge technologies, the new Ford Capri is positioned as a serious competitor in the premium electric SUV segment. Let's take a closer look at this vehicle that combines nostalgia and a vision of the future.

A design evocative of the Capri spirit

The new electric Ford Capri sports an instantly recognizable silhouette. Its plunging roofline and tapered rear subtly recall the profile of the original coupe that made the brand's heyday in the 70s and 80s. The designers have succeeded in transposing the Capri DNA onto a modern SUV template, while maintaining a dynamic and elegant look.

With its 4.63 meters long and 2.06 meters wide, the Capri stands out with its generous size. Its contained height of 1.62 meters, however, gives it a fluid line, reinforced by rims up to 20 inches on the Premium finish. The 100% LED lighting contributes to the vehicle's high-tech visual signature, particularly with the adaptive matrix lights offered on the top of the range.

A high-performance electric motor

Under the hood, the Ford Capri houses a 100% electric engine available in two power levels. The rear-wheel drive version develops 286 horsepower (210 kW) while the all-wheel drive version reaches 340 horsepower (250 kW). These engines provide performance worthy of the sporting heritage of the Capri name.

The 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in just 5.3 seconds for the most powerful version, an impressive figure for an SUV of this size. The maximum speed is electronically limited to 180 km/h, a compromise between performance and preservation of autonomy. The driving sensations promise to be there thanks to a lowered center of gravity due to the installation of the batteries in the floor.

Autonomy that pushes the limits

Ford has focused on autonomy, a crucial point for an electric vehicle. The propulsion version of the standard Capri has a record autonomy of 627 km according to the WLTP cycle. A figure that places the SUV among the benchmarks in the segment. The other versions are not far behind with autonomy varying from 560 to 598 km depending on the version.

This excellent range is made possible by the latest generation of lithium-ion batteries, with a capacity of 77 kWh for the rear-wheel drive versions and 79 kWh for the all-wheel drive models. Optimized thermal management and refined aerodynamics also contribute to maximizing the vehicle's energy efficiency.

Ultra-fast charging for more flexibility

The new electric Capri is not only powerful in terms of range, it also shines with its charging capabilities. The rear-wheel drive versions accept a maximum charging power of 135 kW in direct current, allowing 80% of the battery to be recovered in just 28 minutes.

Even more impressive, the all-wheel drive models can handle up to 185 kW of charging power. This translates into a charging time from 10 to 80% reduced to 26 minutes. A performance that places the Capri among the fastest-charging electric vehicles on the market, an undeniable asset for long journeys.

A high-tech and refined interior

The interior of the Ford Capri Electric is all about cutting-edge technology. The centrepiece is a massive 14.6-inch vertical touchscreen, which slides out to reveal a clever storage area. This cutting-edge multimedia system is complemented by a 5-inch digital instrument cluster facing the driver.

Comfort is not left out with heated front seats, a massage function for the driver and a premium audio system by B&O on the top-of-the-range finish. Customisable ambient lighting and the optional panoramic roof reinforce the luxurious atmosphere of the cabin. Connectivity is ensured by Android Auto and Apple CarPlay wireless compatibility, as well as an inductive charger for smartphones.

Latest generation driving aids

Ford has equipped its electric Capri with a complete arsenal of driver assistance systems. No fewer than 12 ultrasonic sensors, 3 radars and 5 cameras constantly scan the vehicle's surroundings. This technology makes it possible to offer advanced features such as cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, turn assistance and traffic sign recognition as standard.

The most tech-savvy among you can opt for additional equipment such as a head-up display, automated parking or even a 360ยฐ camera. These systems not only improve safety, but also make everyday maneuvers easier, a significant point for a vehicle of this size.

Launch planned for 2025

The new electric Ford Capri will go on sale in Europe from the beginning of 2025. The range will be available in two finishes, Standard and Premium, each available with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Prices will range from โ‚ฌ54,265 to โ‚ฌ64,275 depending on the version, positioning the Capri in the premium segment of electric SUVs.

These prices reflect the vehicle's premium positioning, justified by its performance, record range and cutting-edge technological equipment. Ford is thus counting on capitalizing on the reputation of the Capri name to attract customers looking for an electric SUV that combines performance, style and automotive heritage.

The return of the Ford Capri as an electric SUV marks a turning point in the history of this iconic model. By combining the stylistic codes of the past with the technologies of the future, Ford has succeeded in reviving a legend while making it fully relevant to its time. This bold vehicle could well become a benchmark in the booming market of premium electric SUVs.
