Mercedes is unveiling its new Mercedes-AMG GT 63 Pro 4Matic+ at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed, a supercharged version of its 2+2 coupe. The model features increased power, improved cooling and aerodynamics, carbon brakes, new wheels and a sportier aesthetic, all geared towards track performance.
An even more powerful V8 engine
The heart of this new beast is the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, boosted to 612 hp and delivering 850 Nm of torque (50 Nm more than the standard version). This cavalry is managed by a nine-speed automatic gearbox and transmitted to all four wheels via an all-wheel drive system.
Performance lives up to expectations:โ 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 secondsโ 0 to 200 km/h in 10.9 seconds (0.5 seconds better than the standard version)โ Top speed of 317 km/h
Cooling optimized for high performance
To handle this increased power, Mercedes-AMG has revised the cooling system:โ Additional radiators in the wheel archesโ Active cooling for the differentials and transfer caseโ Electrically driven water pumpsโ New geometry of the underbody spoilers and brake protection plates
Advanced aerodynamics
Aerodynamics have also received special attention:โ Redesigned front bumper with carbon fibre spoilersโ Active aerodynamic profile in the underbodyโ Active front bumper control systemโ Aerodynamic pack including a fixed rear spoiler on the tailgate
Revised braking and ground connections
To harness this power, the GT 63 Pro 4Matic+ is equipped with ceramic brakes:โ Six-piston fixed calipers at the frontโ Single-piston floating calipers at the rearโ 420 mm discs at the front (the largest offered by Mercedes-AMG)
The vehicle sits on new 21-inch AMG Performance forged wheels in a cross-spoke design, finished in matt Himalayan Grey. They are shod with Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tyres as standard, with an option for higher-performance Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2Rs.
A sharp aesthetic
The exterior of the vehicle benefits from a carbon pack including: โ Front splitter โ Side skirts โ Diffuser โ Rear spoiler
The brake calipers are painted black, while the cabin features AMG Performance seats and a steering wheel in Nappa leather and microfibre.
This new Mercedes-AMG GT 63 Pro 4Matic+ pushes the limits of performance for a road-legal vehicle. Although it is not exclusively intended for use on the racetrack, it is clear that Mercedes-AMG engineers have sought to extract the maximum potential from their GT coupรฉ. This Pro version thus offers fans of the brand an even more intense driving experience, whether on the road or on the track.
