German brand Porsche is making a big splash with the launch of its new Panamera, a sports sedan that pushes the boundaries of luxury and performance. Featuring super-powerful hybrid and thermal engines, this new generation is establishing itself as an essential benchmark in the high-end sports car segment.
Phenomenal power under the hood
The new Porsche Panamera does not do things by halves when it comes to powertrains. The flagship model in the range, the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, develops a staggering combined output of 567 kW (771 hp). This powerhouse combines a V8 biturbo engine with an electric motor, delivering performance worthy of a supercar. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in just 2.9 seconds, while the top speed peaks at 315 km/h.
For purists looking for a more traditional driving experience, the Panamera GTS offers a 4.0-litre V8 biturbo delivering 362 kW (493 hp). This version is distinguished by its sportier character and captivating sound, thanks to a specific sports exhaust system. 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in 3.8 seconds, for a top speed of 300 km/h.
A chassis designed for extreme sensations
Porsche has put all its know-how into the development of the chassis of the new Panamera. The GTS version benefits from a double-chamber air suspension, lowered by 10 mm compared to the other models. Reinforced anti-roll bars and the electronically controlled PTV Plus limited-slip differential optimise road holding and torque distribution.
The Turbo S E-Hybrid goes even further with the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control Sport (PDCC Sport). This cutting-edge technology enables active roll control, ensuring exceptional stability when cornering while maintaining ride comfort. The carbon ceramic brake system (PCCB) guarantees powerful and durable braking, even under the most demanding conditions.
A sharp design that leaves no one indifferent
The new Panamera features an evolutionary yet striking design. The GTS version stands out with its sporty styling cues, including black logos, darkened HD Matrix LED headlights and red brake calipers. The Turbo S E-Hybrid, meanwhile, has an even more assertive presence, with enlarged air intakes and exclusive 21-inch wheels.
The interior is no exception, with a luxurious cabin combining leather, Alcantara and brushed aluminum. The 18-way sports seats provide perfect support, while the Bose audio system ensures an exceptional sound ambiance. The new Porsche Driver Experience concept revolutionizes the human-machine interface, with a digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch high-definition central display.
Cutting-edge technology at the service of the driver
The new generation Panamera features the latest technological innovations from Porsche. The PCM 6.0 infotainment system offers seamless connectivity, with extensive integration of smartphones and online services. Navigation with real-time traffic information and natural speech recognition make every journey easier.
Driving assistance systems reach a new level, with the InnoDrive adaptive cruise control that anticipates the road layout and adjusts the speed accordingly. The night vision system and the remote parking assistant via smartphone further enhance safety and comfort of use in everyday life.
A versatile sports car designed for the future
With its new Panamera, Porsche has achieved the feat of offering a sports saloon capable of exceptional performance while remaining usable on a daily basis. The Turbo S E-Hybrid plug-in hybrid version offers a generous electric range, allowing up to 80 km in zero-emission mode.
This versatility is also reflected in the different variants offered. While the GTS is only available as a saloon, the Turbo S E-Hybrid can be ordered in the standard, Executive (extended wheelbase) or Sport Turismo (shooting station wagon) versions. Enough to satisfy all the expectations of a demanding clientele looking for exclusivity and performance.
The first deliveries of the new Porsche Panamera are scheduled for autumn 2024 in France. Prices should start at around โฌ130,000 for the GTS version, while the Turbo S E-Hybrid should be around โฌ200,000. A high price, certainly, but justified by the extraordinary features offered by this technological flagship made in Zuffenhausen.
