Nebraska wheelchair basketball team hopes to compete in tournaments

The Nebraska Red Dawgs is a wheelchair basketball team providing children with disabilities a chance to play the sport. The organization has two teams — the varsity team and the prep team. This year the prep team may not be able to play in any tournaments because it does not have enough players.”Any kids that has any sort of a physical disability that prevents them from playing able body sports would qualify to be able to play,” said Patrick Christiansen, Nebraska Red Dawgs basketball team coach. At the 2019 national championship, the prep team placed fourth in the nation.”People that are on this team, they aren’t going to judge you for your disability they’re going to accept you and we love each other,” said Abigail Harvey, a player for the Nebraska Red Dawgs.
