Leopard and mini: Anne Hathaway’s surprising ‘look’ in Parisian haute couture

17 years ago, Anne Hathaway succeeded in her role as Andy Sachs in The devil wears Prada. In the film, she played the young assistant of an all-powerful fashion editor who was looking to make it in the industry. Today, barely 40 years old, the American actress has become an expert in how to surprise on the red carpet. This Wednesday, he demonstrated it during Valentino’s spring-summer 2023 haute couture show, organized as part of Paris fashion week. The performer walked to The Bridge club, under the French capital’s iconic Alexandre III bridge, dressed in leopard print from top to bottom, with a beaded minidress paired with stockings, shoes and a bag, all while animal print.

Upon arriving at the event, the style was not intuitive, as the actress arrived covered in a long black coat. But when he took it off, he surprised him with a looks sparkle that could well be part of Wilma Flintstone’s festive wardrobe. It was an outfit from Valentino’s fall 2023 collection, not one of the models presented that evening, as is often the case with many of the brand’s star guests at the shows, which are the first to wear the outfits of the models from the new collections. . Hathaway attended the Parisian event with her husband, New York producer and businessman Adam Shulman, who usually accompanies her to such events.

Although the actress opted for a light pink satin Prada dress to collect her Oscar for Les Miserables in 2013, Hathaway has a close relationship with Valentino: last July, she wore one of the firm’s signature pink outfits during the haute couture show that the brand held in Rome. This model coincided with the one she had just worn in Paris in two ways: it was mini and embroidered. During his last appearances, the interpreter joined one of the trends of the moment: the return of miniskirt dresses. A few days before her appearance in Paris, Hathaway went to the Sundance Film Festival to present her new film, Eileen. She arrived covered in a puffer jacket and when she took it off she revealed a black Versace mini dress which she paired with blunt boots.

The actress has just started a year full of projects. In Eileen plays Rebecca Saint John, a character born from the mind of writer Ottessa Moshfegh (My year of rest and relaxation), whose first novel is based on the film. Precisely during the presentation of the film at Sundance, Hathaway explained that this film was for her a way to settle accounts with a uncomfortable question she received early in her acting career: “I remember one of the first questions I was asked when I started acting was, ‘Are you a good or bad daughter ?’ I was only 16. And my 16-year-old self would have loved to respond with this film. In addition to this project, the actress is adding six more in development or post-production this year, including Mother instinct, with Jessica Chastain, or She came to me with Marisa Tomei and Peter Dinklage.
