Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown sounds great, doesn’t it? announced with a release date of January 18 for PS5 and PS4 Summer Game Fest Earlier this week, the title looked like a side-scrolling treat with a better-than-expected combat system. But apparently that’s not what some fans wanted: accordingly VGCThe title attracted mostly negative reactions on YouTube.

The site notes that on most channels the trailer has been uploaded to — including PlayStation’s official account — the clip has attracted more dislikes than likes. It’s only on Nintendo’s page that it got a positive response. YouTube apparently hides dislikes these days, but there are still ways to see that information, and about 72 percent of feedback has been negative.

We’re assuming the poor reaction is due to the fact that fans were waiting for Ubisoft’s previously announced remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, but with the publisher effectively rebooting development on that one. , that’s still years away. We believe a side-scroller is a poor substitute for the iconic 3D platformer, and that may explain the answer.

Some comments seem to have taken issue with the use of rap music in the trailer, which could be another possible reason for the negative response. However, it is worth remembering Prince of Persia: The Warrior Within edgy alt-rock main theme, which proves that music isn’t exactly uncommon for this series.

Either way, we thought the game looked great, and we’re excited to learn more as Ubisoft moves forward. What did you think of The Lost Crown announcement? Are fans too harsh on the title? Let us know in the comments section below.
