To wrap up its Assassin’s Creed showcase, Ubisoft shared a look at what the future holds for the series with the reveal of two more upcoming games: Codename Red and Codename Hexie. The former finally takes the franchise to feudal Japan – a setting fans have been clamoring for years now – and the latter appears to be based on historical witch trials. Nor is expected until 2024 at the earliest, with the launch of Assassin’s Creed Mirage next year.

The very brief announcement trailer for Codename Red can be seen above, and you can catch Codename Hexie below. Both of these titles will be part of Assassin’s Creed Infinity, which is like a hub for all future games in the franchise. You can think of it as a launcher, but the details are still very light. It was also confirmed that Ubisoft is looking to bring back Assassin’s Creed multiplayer, which is very interesting based on previous attempts.

while talking to VGC, series boss Marc-Alexis Cote confirmed that these two upcoming games will be leaving the PS4 so the team can move on to the current generation with the PS5 version. “We’ll announce the dates a little later, but we wanted to mark a transition technically and gameplay-wise because we’re going full-on next-gen—or current-gen, I guess we call it. – PS5 and Xbox Series X.”
