Backbone One: PlayStation Edition finally gets an Android version, and it’s available now
In case you didn’t know, Backbone — a company that makes smartphone cradles that give them tactile control — unveiled and released the Backbone One: PlayStation Edition last year. Fundamentally similar to the regular device, this version of the accessory sports a DualSense-like design and is the best way to enjoy remote play on your smartphone of choice. Well, as long as it was an Apple phone. Not anymore, though, as Backbone One: PlayStation Edition for Android phones is now available for purchase.
As mentioned, you place your phone in the center of the device, plugging it in through the charging slot. From there, you can access the PS Remote Play app and enjoy all your favorite PS5 and PS4 games as if you were using a shiny new PlayStation handheld. You can also do it with the normal Backbone One, but this one has officially licensed PlayStation branding, which is neat.
The accessory comes with the Backbone app, which acts as a catch-all for everything gaming on your mobile. It also includes PS Remote Play, but it’s also a great control method for compatible mobile games.
As mentioned, Backbone One: PlayStation Edition for Android is currently available with an SRP of $99.99. It’s more widely available, as well. In the US, you can buy the Android or Apple versions directly from Backbone, but they’re also coming to Best Buy, Target, and Amazon. Elsewhere, you can get the device in Canada, Latin America, across Europe, the Middle East, Australia and New Zealand. These locations will soon be joined by Asian markets including Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore.
