Battlefield Will Return to PS5 in a Brand New Way, EA Exec Has ‘Extraordinary Confidence’ in Team
Battlefield 2042 wasn’t quite the revolutionary next step fans of the long-running FPS franchise had hoped for, with the futuristic shooter facing a barrage of bugs at launch and backlash from the hardcore community.
Despite all this, EA CEO Andrew Wilson says he has “extraordinary confidence” in the revitalized Battlefield leadership team, and during the company’s latest investor report (thanks GamesRadar+), repeatedly mentioned the company’s “ability to bring back Battlefield in a completely new way in the future”.
When asked about how projects related to the Battlefield IP are progressing, Wilson said “we don’t have an announcement date” before expressing his “extraordinary confidence in the progress they’re making against the future of that franchise.” .
In recent months, Battlefield 2042 has started to turn the tide, with a return to the classic class system, fans clamoring for limited-time events and fun limited-time events being implemented. (Not to mention drastic map improvements). It’s a far cry from the bad old days of post-launch support for the title, an era that, at times, felt downright awful.
How are you feeling about Battlefield these days, are you playing regularly? Are you optimistic about future entries in the series? Let us know in the comments section below.
