Big Metroidvania Game Afterimage is out in April 2023 on PS5, PS4
The massive Metroidvania game from developer Aurogen Shanghai, titled Afterimage, has been assigned a new PS5, PS4 release date of April 25, 2023. Previously thought to be out this year, the 2D title now joins a busy 2023 release schedule, with Horizon releasing in between. Forbidden West DLC Burning Shores and Dead Island 2. However, the side-scrolling Metrodvania game is quite different from their offerings. Watch the new trailer above.
“Years after a cataclysm called The Rising nearly wiped out human civilization, mystical forces suddenly attack the remaining settlements of mankind,” a press release states. “Attempting to investigate these attacks, Renee An amnesiac girl named Nam says goodbye to her destroyed village and begins her journey to discover the truth, setting off a series of unexpected events that will determine the fate of a new world.”
This Metroidvania game is said to be both very long and full of content, with the developer claiming that there are around 30 to 40 hours of gameplay covering over 20 regions. There are 30 bosses to defeat, over 180 enemies, and six main weapon classes to kill them with. It seems like a lot of depth to sink your teeth into.
