Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 WallHack Glitch is a bug, not the work of cheaters
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was released in full on Friday, and we’re having an absolute blast partying this weekend like it’s 2007, with the experience being relatively seamless… shocking. That is, when compared to the launch of contemporaries like Battlefield 2042.
However, one particularly galling bug has reared its head, and you could be forgiven for thinking that players who know where you are at all times might be using some kind of wallhack. Some players can definitely see you through walls, but this is the result of a glitch, not the work of cheaters.
As you can see in the clip above, posted by the Redditor zFSSstaticPlayers who were killed were able to ping the enemy during the death screen, and this ping would last for the rest of the match afterwards, allowing the player to be tracked even through tangible objects.
As reported by Eurogamer, the ping system itself seems to have been quietly disabled over the weekend, which is perhaps a necessary evil, but certainly makes it difficult to coordinate with one’s squadmates in the heat of battle. No word on a fix yet, but it looks like Infinity Ward is aware of the issue, and hopefully, a patch is coming.
Have you fallen victim to this wallhack mess? Do you (like us) believe that every unnecessary death must be the work of dirty, good-for-nothing crooks? Come up with excuses in the comments section below.
