Crash Team Rumble spins on PS5, PS4 in June, closed beta coming next month
Update: Following the gameplay leak below, Activision has now confirmed more details about Crash Team Rumble. YouTuber Canadian Guy Eh has posted some new gameplay footage, embedded above.
First, the multiplayer titles are scheduled to launch on PS5 and PS4 on June 20, 2023, with full crossplay support, so you can play them on other platforms. We’ll be able to run it shortly after that, though, as a closed beta test is set to take place next month.
From April 20 to 24, participants can play the closed beta, which will feature five characters – Crash, Coco, Tawna, Neo Cortex, and Dingodile. There will also be three maps to play during the test.
You can enter the beta by pre-ordering the Standard or Deluxe edition of Crash Team Rumble. The former will cost $29.99, and includes the game, closed beta access, and a Season 1 Premium Battle Pass. The latter costs $39.99 and includes all that plus a Season 2 Premium Battle Pass and several other digital goodies.
Activision also provided a few more details on the game. Characters will fall into one of three categories — Blocker, Booster, or Scorer — and will have unique abilities to help their teammates bag as many Wumpa Fruits as possible. What do you make of the Crash Team Rumble so far? Tell us in the comments!
Original story: Crash Team Rumble, the team-based multiplayer game starring Crash Bandicoot and company, was announced late last year. We’ve seen very little of this spin-off since then, and of course, fans are excited to get their first proper look at the title in action. Fortunately for them, a small leak granted that wish earlier than intended.
seems to have leaked from IGN Italy, who posted a 30-second clip of the game. The same video is also spread around Twitter. In it, we see someone playing as Crash in the final moments of the match, running and picking up the Wumpa fruit while avoiding the Dingodil’s pursuit.
To recap, Crash Team Rumble is a 4v4 multiplayer game that pits hero characters against villains. Your objective is to collect as many Wumpa Fruits as you can for your team, and each character has their own abilities to help their team or hinder the other.
We’re also seeing rumblings of the NDA breaking, which suggests that publisher Activision is gearing up for an official reveal in the near future. Hopefully we’ll get to see more of the game very soon.
