Destiny 2 taken offline as Bungie investigates lost player progress

Developer Bungie has taken uber-popular MMO shooter Destiny 2 offline as it investigates reports of lost player progress following routine maintenance. Players have reported that progress has ended, particularly with regard to Triumphs, Seals and Catalysts.

Currently offline for about 12 hours, Bungie has provided regular updates as it tries to fix the problem. The most recent update estimates that the servers will be offline until 3 or 4 AM PST or 11 AM or 12 PM GMT on January 25th, although this timeline is subject to change.

A massive game like Destiny 2 going down for so long isn’t something we see every day, and it’s especially troubling, considering that the next big expansion, Lightfall, 28 is set to release in just a few days, on January. We hope the issues are resolved quickly and patrons can get back to doing what they love best: complaining about the balance in both PVP and PVE.

Are you planning to boot up Destiny 2 today? Do you think the issues will be resolved in time for Lightfall? Wait for more instructions in the comment section below.
