Diablo 4 bug prime suspect in rash of treasure goblin-related murders
Diablo 4’s nominally passive Treasure Goblin is a pacifist enemy type that players are encouraged to slay when encountered. They drop high level loot, leak gold when hit, and will try to run away immediately upon seeing the player. And yet, these seemingly harmless loot piñatas lead to a series of high-profile hardcore character deaths (which are permanent) in a delicious twist of satire.
It was the same with Kilthuzad (above), which significantly lost scores of hours of gameplay. Other players have also reported losing characters to death pulses, a special ability certain elite enemies may have that gives them a last chance for revenge beyond the grave. For whatever reason, high-level treasure goblins with this ability, in particular, seem to be the main culprits, although the official cause of death recorded by the in-game Hall of Fallen Heroes is “killed by an unknown assassin”. the fish
