Elden Ring Dev’s Next Big Thing Armored Core 6 Targets PS5, PS4 on 25th August
As correctly rumored earlier this month, FromSoftware’s surprise sequel Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon will be locked-on to PS5 and PS4 starting August 25, 2023. It’s much earlier than expected, but the title looks great in it. Brand new gameplay trailer, which leans heavily into the classic Armored Core gameplay loop.
It’s worth noting that despite the developer’s recent rise in popularity, it’s plotting a more traditional experience here. Press release details: “Featuring highly mobile and highly customizable mechs, [the game] will engage players in fast-paced battles where they can make full use of offensive and defensive maneuvers on the ground and in the air to defeat enemies.

The game looks and feels good, but we’re interested to see how newcomers take it. The last Armored Corps, for example, launched on the PS3 a little over a decade ago, and received very mediocre scores overall. Nevertheless, it is clear that FromSoftware has a very much Big budget for this entry, so it could bring the series into the mainstream for the first time in its more than 25-year history.
