Expect to hear ‘much more’ about the ultimate multiplayer game from us later this year
It looks like we may finally learn more about The Last of Us: Part II’s missing multiplayer component later this year, which, from what we were previously told, has expanded its scope quite significantly.
Appearing at approx Kinda funny spoilercast, Naughty Dog Vice President Neil Druckmann confirmed that the studio has chosen and is now actively developing its next PS5 project. Host Greg Miller then brings up Faction, the name of the original TLoU’s multiplayer component.
Druckmann seems quite deliberate in that No Referring to it as Factions, says, “Our last multiplayer game is our next big title. You’ll be hearing a lot more about it later this year, and I’m excited about it.”
Druckmann went on to describe what it feels like to be hands-off with the upcoming multiplayer title, stating that “it’s an interesting experience for me personally because this is our first last game that I’m not the primary writer on, I’m not the director myself, so I look at it from a different angle and play more of a producer role and a mentor role, and that’s very exciting for me, and what the team has put together is great. .
The Last of Us: Part II was released back in 2020, so waiting until the end of the year to learn more about the mysterious multiplayer game shouldn’t be too taxing. Chances are, whatever naughty dog is cooking up behind closed doors is likely to be worth the wait.
