Ubisoft has been pretty good at updating older games from its back catalog to run better on the PS5, and it looks like Far Cry 5 could be next. While the French publisher has yet to officially announce the news, it pointed out on “a much-requested feature for next-gen consoles,” as the title prepares to celebrate its fifth anniversary. Given the updates made to the likes of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and The Crew 2, we’re going to assume that this will allow the release to run at 60 frames-per-second on modern hardware.

The firm will share the information in the next three weeks, so we won’t have to wait long for confirmation. Assuming our assumption is correct, however, you won’t even have to buy a copy of the first-person shooter to take advantage, as Far Cry 5 has been part of PS Plus Extra Since late last year.

We loved the game when it released on PS4, but felt it was a safe entry for a series that was growing. “Ubisoft is clearly more interested in creating an experience that appeals to everyone than satisfying the bottom line,” we commented in our 7/10 review. “It’s a real shame, because there’s the makings of a very entertaining sandbox survival adventure.”
