Far Cry 6 goes off the rails with extra-terrestrial expansion on PS5, PS4
Far Cry 6 was already a very outdoorsy open world experience when it launched last year, allowing you to craft weapons from an old Walkman that plays a macarena as you slice through hordes of enemies. Now it’s getting even crazier, with the release of the Lost Between Worlds expansion on December 6th for $19.99.
“Following their discovery of a mysterious meteorite impact site, Dani will find herself in a twisted space between worlds with a non-corporeal life-form called Phi,” the press release teases. “Players will need to repair Fi’s broken spacecraft by collecting five missing shards, with each escape boosting Dany’s overall stats, bringing them one step closer to survival.”
There’s a roguelite aspect here, as you’ll need to navigate 15 different rifts, at your own pace and with your own strategy, to retrieve the aforementioned shards. As you progress, you’ll unlock new tools and combat abilities, allowing you to revisit certain areas and unlock new paths. Interestingly, inspiration also comes from classics like Ikaruga; For example, you’ll need to toggle between colored weapons to defeat different enemies.
Upon completing the DLC, you’ll unlock new gear that you can use in the main game to further liberate Yara. And that could come in handy in New Game+, available as part of a title update starting today, with a feature called Completionist Aid, which will help you track down any outstanding collectibles you haven’t yet discovered.
Of course, if you’ve yet to give Far Cry 6 a try, there’s a free trial available on PS Store Out today for PS5 and PS4, allowing you to play through the entire first chapter of the campaign. And if you like it, you’ll be able to transfer your progress to the main game, which is currently available digitally at a discounted price.
