Final Fantasy XVI producer Naoki Yoshida has said that DLC is now under consideration at Square Enix as the company looks to support its latest title after launch. Prior to last month’s launch, Yoshida described the experience as a “one-off game” that would only be made if “players around the world want to see more of the world of Clive and Valistia. Changes in tune suggest Granted Yoshida has heard the fans cry for more.

In a recent interview with GamerBravesYoshida explained: “As you know, going into Final Fantasy XVI, one of the things we wanted to create was a completely complete story, something that you could enjoy from start to finish, without any DLC 100 percent, and I think we were able to do that. But now we understand that we’re getting feedback from players who have played the game, and a lot of players want to see more, and we know that. And understand. For us, we’re taking it and then thinking about our options moving forward. So hopefully in the future, we can have something that we can give to all of you.”

DLC has become more common for the Final Fantasy series over the last few entries, with Final Fantasy XV expanding the story into four expansions and then the Final Fantasy VII remake receiving more plot treatment in new content focused on Yufi. However, since Square Enix only got around to considering DLC, it will be quite some time before we actually see any additional content given the green light.

in us Final Fantasy 16 PS5 review, we awarded the game a 9/10 and called it a true return to form for the series. “It’s the pinnacle of cinematic spectacle in modern games, and its often gripping, emotional story is matched only by its brilliant combat system. While its overall quality sinks outside of the main plot, it’s still a compelling action RPG.” ., and the best single-player Final Fantasy in a decade.
