Bad news for all you football coaches: the anticipated PS5 version of Football Manager 23 has been delayed at the last minute. The tactical title was meant to release on November 8 – just over a week from the writing of this article – but has now been pushed back to a currently unannounced date.
So what could stop a game like this so close to launch in its tracks? Well, according to an official statement from Sports Interactive, it’s all due to “unexpected complications that arose during the submission and approval process.”
“We are devastated by this outcome, which we have worked tirelessly with our partners for several weeks to try to resolve. The decision to delay was particularly difficult, as it involved stopping a great game. including, many of the talented people within SI have been working very hard for quite some time. We will continue to do everything in our power to get this game into the hands of PS5 gamers as soon as possible,” gushed director Miles Jacobson writes.
Sports Interactive and publisher SEGA say they will update fans on a new release date as soon as possible. Meanwhile, those who pre-ordered the title through the PlayStation Store will be given a full and automatic refund.
Hopefully we’ll get a new date soon. But until that happens, does this last-minute delay affect your plans? Make some substitutions in the comments section below.
