GTA 6 leak will not disrupt development, Rockstar vows to exceed expectations



As you may have already noticed, an unprecedented leak over the weekend exposed a lot of secret footage from GTA 6 in frankly shocking fashion. Game developers around the world, including Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann, have already spoken out in support of developer Rockstar. And now the world-renowned label has released a statement.

“We recently experienced a network intrusion in which an unauthorized third party illegally accessed and downloaded confidential information from our systems,” The message begins,” including early development footage for the next Grand Theft Auto. At this time, we do not expect any disruption to our live game services nor any long-term impact on the development of our ongoing projects.

Speculations were rife on Sunday evening that GTA 5’s source code was in the public domain, and this could have myriad consequences. GTA online, but it seems the developer isn’t worried. Others had speculated that GTA 6 development might stall when the team got on top of the leak, but that doesn’t seem to be the case either.

Still, the studio is understandably upset: “We are very disappointed to share any details of our next game with you in this manner,” the statement continued. “Our work on the next Grand Theft Auto game will continue as planned, and we remain committed as ever to delivering an experience for you, our players, that truly exceeds expectations.”

Rockstar concluded that it would be in no rush to reveal more details: “We’ll update everyone soon and, of course, introduce you properly to this next game when it’s ready. We would like to thank everyone for their ongoing support in this situation. “
