GTA 6 may be released on PS5 before the end of next year

Grand Theft Auto publisher Take-Two could be lining up the franchise’s sixth mainline entry for a PS5 release between April 2024 and March 2025, if the company dropped hints during its annual earnings report that anything could happen. A press release stated that the firm is preparing to release several games over the next few years, all of which are “groundbreaking titles that we believe will set new standards in our industry”. Sounds like GTA 6, no?

Through these releases, Take-Two expects to achieve “more than $8 billion in net bookings and more than $1 billion in adjusted unrestricted operating cash flow” in fiscal 2025, and then maintain that through next year. Research from IGN shows that Take-Two’s annual net bookings typically hover around $3 billion, so the company has some significant planning ahead for the next few years if it wants to experience such sharp growth.

With FY 2025 looking like the 12 month period when those heavy hitters will actually launch, there’s a chance that GTA 6 could be released before March 2025 rolls around. Speaking on Take-Two’s chances of actually achieving its goals, CEO Strauss Zelnick explained: GamesIndustry.biz It’s very achievable,” he said. “As you know, it’s very rare that we talk about years. And when we do, it’s because we have a high level of confidence. Reflection is what we’ve been investing in for years. We’re starting to see that pay off in FY24, and then in FY25, we expect to see some big breakthroughs.”
