Well, it looks good! American fugitive developer Fallen Tree Games has announced The Precinct, a new isometric, Grand Theft Auto-inspired sandbox police game coming to PS5. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have a release date attached to it yet, so you’ll have to enjoy the trailer for a while.

“You are Officer Nick Cordell Jr.,” the press release reads. “As a rogue Beat soldier out of the academy, you are on the first line of defense for the citizens of Everno. Dive into a world of thrilling car chases, procedural crimes, and a healthy dose of 1980s noir as you protect the public and solve the mystery of your father’s murder in the line of duty.”

It’s a sandbox game, so you’ll respond to dispatch requests as you explore. “Patrol the streets and answer callouts to fight petty and powerful criminals. Choose your own strategy in thrilling chases and shootouts. From parking violations to bank robberies, from street racing to drug deals, experience the ever-changing power struggles of Everno’s gangs in a vibrant city full of procedurally generated crime.”

When the going gets tough, you’ll be able to call on fellow cops to aid you, including squad cars, road blocks, spike strips and more. And there will be a complete day/night cycle with dynamic weather to make the world feel fresh. We reckon it could be good, our only concern is that the performance in the trailer looks a bit shaky – but obviously it’s still early.
