Hollow Knight: Silksong has been delayed from a specific 2023 release window
Team Cherry has delayed Hollow Knight: Silksong’s anticipated 2D title almost a year ago, outside of the release window. After being revealed at Microsoft’s June press conference, it was one of the games to be released in the next 12 months. That won’t happen now, however, as developer Hollow Knight confirms: Silksong won’t launch until the first six months of 2023.
Taking up Twitter, marketing and publishing executive Matthew Griffin stated that development continued through the estimated release window. “We’re excited about how the game is shaping up, and it’s gotten pretty big, so we want to take the time to make the game as good as it can be. We’ll have more details as we get closer to release. Expect.”
This delay doesn’t completely rule out a PS5, PS4 release sometime in 2023, but given today’s pushback, it’s likely you won’t be playing the game until at least the end of the year. An early to mid 2024 launch seems more realistic at this point. While details on the sequel are still somewhat light, Silksong introduces a new kingdom to explore, over 150 enemies, and a new difficulty setting that changes the experience after completing the game. Considering how long the original Hollow Knight was with multiple DLC drops after launch, Silksong looks like it’s going to be another big — but welcome — commitment.
