Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged Takes the Action outside on PS5, PS4 in October

Similarly, Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged has been announced by Milestone. Considering the original was the studio’s best-selling game, we assumed a sequel was inevitable – and here it is. The debut trailer is CG, but it teases several interesting new twists to the formula.

Based on the collectible toy cars of the same name, this arcade racing game traditionally keeps track locked on those signature plastic orange roads. While you got a bit of a twist in the first game, it looks like it’ll be a bigger focus this time around, including a big chunk of driving out in the open in the trailer.

Accordingly Official website, we’ll be racing around a variety of new locations, each with different terrain types, all of which will affect how your car handles. Some of these new environments include trailers, an arcade, and a yard from a gas station.

We’re also introduced to motorcycles, monster trucks, and other vehicles joining in on the fun, and some new mechanics appear; Jump and sideswipe look forward as action.

The website also confirms the return of the campaign mode (with a new story), as well as several new modes for the sequel: Grab the Gears, Demo Derby, Draft Master, and Waypoints. Details are thin on them, though they’re pretty self-explanatory. On top of all this, Turbocharged has introduced a new skill system, which allows you to outfit your favorite vehicles with unique perks.

We really like Hot Wheels Unleashed, and going by this announcement trailer and what we can see on the website, we should be in for a treat with the follow-up. Hopefully we’ll see some gameplay soon. Fortunately, the sequel isn’t too far off, launching on October 19, 2023 on PS5 and PS4.
