Jucent is a PS5 puzzle platformer with some unwanted energy

You know what, there aren’t enough games about climbing. We know some people find it a bit long in the tooth as unwanted franchises are dragged out, but we really enjoyed the recent Horizon Call of the Mountain, for example – a game where you Rock faces with most of the time spent scrambling your way to the top PSVR2.

Jusant, a new title from the increasingly busy – and much changed – NOD doesn’t look like it can fill a void. Coming to PS5 later this year, the action puzzler promises a “meditative journey to the top of a tall tower.” The press release teases: “Challenge yourself at your own pace, explore different paths, and unlock the secrets of an ancient civilization.”

It adds: “Master your climbing tools and watch your stamina meter to successfully navigate this mysterious and shifting tower. As you move up and hone your skills, you have to figure out how to use the tools at your disposal to get where you want to go. Explore alternate paths to find clues about what happened here.”

You will be guided along your journey by an ethereal, water-based being called Ballast. The official blurb concludes, “This creature will help guide you on your journey by awakening nature on your path and revealing clues that will help you piece together the tower’s past and reach the top.”

It looks and sounds really good, and it’s great to see it stretching its legs and exploring so many different experiences.
