Missing Thedas? Netflix’s animated Dragon Age: Absolution series might be the cure

With Dreadwolf on the horizon, hungry Dragon Age fans finally have another massive role-playing experience to look forward to. The wait just got a little easier with the release of the first trailer for the upcoming Netflix animated series Dragon Age: Absolution, which looks great.

The animation is smooth, and it really looks like Absolution is taking the source material seriously, so we can’t help but be optimistic about it. After the success of the incredible Cyberpunk: Edgerunners , Netflix has shown that animated video game spinoffs don’t need to be an afterthought and can serve as a worthy extension of a gaming universe in their own right. It helps that Absolution’s creators worked closely with writers and lead creatives from BioWare to produce Absolution.

We won’t pretend to be experts on the matter, but Innocent is set within the Tevinter Imperium, a nation of sadistic slaves and a major player on the continent of Thedas. The story appears to take place after the events of Dragon Age: Inquisition but before Dreadwolf, and perhaps characters or events within Absolution will be referenced within that game, as BioWare has previously worked on spin-off content in mainline games. .

All six episodes of Dragon Age: Inquisition will drop next month on December 9, in typical Netflix fashion. Do you think Absolution has the chops to become the next Edgerunners? Let us know in the comments section below.
