Mortal Kombat 1 was announced for the PS5 on September 19
After weeks of leaks and teases, Mortal Kombat 1 has been officially announced for the PS5. It’s releasing on September 19, 2023, and you can get your first look in the trailer above. There will be an “immersive story campaign”, reimagined versions of classic characters, and rollback netcode for online play. If you pre-order the game, you’ll get access to a PS5 beta in August.
“Explore a reborn Mortal Kombat universe created by the fire god Liu Kang. Mortal Kombat 1 ushers in a new era of the iconic franchise with a new battle system, game modes, and deaths,” the Official website The tease appears to be the very reboot the series is teasing, “with reimagined versions of iconic characters like they’ve never been seen before, a new battle system, game modes, bone-crushing finishing moves, and more.” with”.
Characters confirmed so far include Liu Kang, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Kung Lao, Kitana, Milena, Shang Tsung and Johnny Cage. Then there will be a separate list of cameo fighters who “can assist during matches, creating expanded gameplay possibilities for players”.
The base game will cost $69.99, or you can opt for the Premium Edition (available in both physical and digital form) for $109.99, which bundles in a Combat Pack, five days of early access, and 1,250 Dragon Crystals (premium currency ). The Combat Pack includes a Johnny Cage character skin with a likeness of Jean-Claude Van Damme at launch, and then six new playable characters and five cameo fighters after release.
