Multiverse fans outraged they paid for a PS5, PS4 game going offline for months

Developer Player First Games has announced that Multiverse will be offline until 2024, and some players are less than thrilled with the news. Players will lose access to the online component of Multiverse, which has been in open beta for the past eight months.

The end of the open beta period is scheduled for June 25, 2023, and game director Tony Hyun said (Thanks, NME) that “as part of this process, we will pause updates and take the game offline as we prepare for the launch of Multiverse, which we are targeting for early 2024.”

The good news is that you’ll still have some limited offline access to the training room as well as local matches, but the bad news is that all online modes and features will be completely unavailable for at least six months. Some fans, especially dedicated ones willing to spend money on an in-game or expensive founder’s pack, were less happy.

For a beta, the multiverse experienced a long life, made a lot of money, and even Won Best Fighting Game at The Game Awards last year, which is somewhat unusual. What do you think about this whole situation? Air any potential complaints in the comments section below.
