Last week we brought you word that Sony was building a new in-house development team in partnership with PSS Visual Arts. Based in San Diego, this secretive support studio previously contributed to the recently released The Last of Us: Part I from developer Naughty Dog. now Another job listing The San Diego area has given us more food for thought, revealing that this mysterious team will “co-develop an exciting new project with Naughty Dog in a beloved franchise.”
According to reporting from Bloomberg Last year, Visual Arts initially wanted to remake the first Uncharted game, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, but due to the nature of that title and the work required, priorities shifted to The Last of Us: Part I instead. . Drake’s Fortune could legitimately use a remake to bring it in line with the rest of the franchise, and so maybe that’s something we could see down the line?
While it’s entirely possible that the San Diego team is working on some sort of mind-blowing next installment in the Jack & Dexter franchise, smart money says it’s the oft-rumored return of Uncharted. As anyone who’s beaten Uncharted 4 knows, the stage is set for a whole new era of adventure, and one we’re at least ready to revisit.
