Next-gen shooter Neo Berlin 2087 is surprising PS5 owners

A trailer for a game called Neo Berlin 2087 appeared PlayStation’s official YouTube channel Earlier today, and it has shocked fans. As one commenter put it so succinctly: “I’ve never seen such a graphically impressive looking game as it was made on a 20 bucks budget.” This is a surprisingly accurate statement: the trailer is both beautiful and a bargain – impressive!

To be fair, it’s obviously still early in development, and Unreal Engine 5 is probably doing a lot of the heavy lifting. On the German developer Elysium game studio website, it describes the title as “a third- and first-person narrative-driven detective thriller set in a cyberpunk world inspired by classics like Blade Runner and Ghost in the Shell.” cold!

The blurb continues: “The game is set in Berlin, in the year 2087. Technological advancements and cyberization have divided society into a two-class system, where the rich rule the city while the poor live in and out of the slums. Fighting to survive. Deadly devastation outside the city walls. In a story about justice, friendship, love, guilt and betrayal, we combine the best elements of science fiction in a way never experienced before. .

Clearly the developer has big ambitions for this, and it’s perhaps surprising that no target release date has been announced at this time. Part of the game is being funded by the German government, presumably in an effort to bolster the country’s artistic output, and we enjoyed seeing some unique Berlin architecture in the trailer. But yeah, don’t expect to play it for a while.
