Oculus Founder Palmer Lucky ‘Blown Away’ by PSVR2

Palmer Luckey returned to the virtual reality news cycle late last year when he revealed he had a prototype. A headset that will kill you outright if you die during a game. The Oculus founder is a bit eccentric to say the least, but you can’t doubt his passion for VR. The literally explosive prototype will obviously never make it past Lucky’s house (we hope), but the next major hardware in the space, Sony’s PSVR2Blowing his mind in a completely different way.

Responding to PlayStation’s Shuhei Yoshida on Twitter, he says he was “blown away” by a recent hands-on session with the upcoming visor and controllers:

Lucky praised the sales success of the original PSVR, and thinks PSVR2 will be even bigger. That’s quite an endorsement — this is someone who had been working on high-end VR units for a long time, and is largely responsible for bringing virtual reality back to its current form.

He is not alone in his assessment either. Members of the tech and gaming press have shared their thoughts on the PSVR2, almost unanimously saying it’s a big step forward and technically very impressive. The headset, along with over 30 launch games, is coming on February 22, 2023, so it’s getting pretty close now.
