The wait is over: Overwatch 2 is now officially released in Early Access on PS5 and PS4, available for everyone to play as a free-to-play title right this minute. Overwatch 2 essentially replaces the original 2016 title, Overwatch is no longer playable now that the sequel is out. Don’t worry, though, as long as you’re logged into the same account, all your currencies and items collected from loot boxes will be maintained. The controversial system will not be part of Overwatch 2; Instead, there is a battle system that has both a free and paid tier.
If you buy the premium tier, the new hero Kiriko will be unlocked automatically, or you’ll have to work through the levels to get him for free. Meanwhile, Sojourn and Junker Queen are unlocked for everyone who logs in during the first season. Overwatch 2 will also pack eight new maps, and new heroes and maps will arrive every nine weeks after launch. However, the game’s new co-op mode won’t be ready until next year.
