Geoff Goodman, lead hero designer for the vast and iconic cast of characters in Overwatch and the upcoming Overwatch 2, has left Blizzard. the company PC Gamer confirmed the departure in a statement.
The specifics are unclear, but a Blizzard spokesperson said Goodman “decided to leave Blizzard earlier this year”. Goodman’s last public appearance in an official capacity was back in June, so it seems the departure was relatively recent.
Tracer, Mercy, and d. Responsible for designing beloved characters such as V.A., Goodman also helped with major reworks of Doomfist and Orisa and is believed to have had a hand in creating new hero Kiriko.
Goodman’s departure comes in the wake of several high-profile departures for the company, including executive producer Chacko Soni and producer Tracy Kenny, who left the company last year. A lawsuit accusing publisher Activision Blizzard of a “toxic frat boy workplace culture” is ongoing.
