And this could be the final nail in the coffin, folks! Ubisoft, one of the few remaining publishers that showed interest in attending E3 2023has officially pulled out. The French firm made a commitment to the convention earlier in the year, promising it had a huge slate of software to show off. But in a statement VGCToday said it has decided to “go in a different direction”, and will instead host its own Ubisoft Forward livestream on June 12, independently of the event.

“E3 has fostered unforgettable moments throughout the industry over the years,” said a spokesperson. “While we initially intended to have an official E3 presence, we’ve decided to go in a different direction, and will hold a Ubisoft Forward Live event on June 12 in Los Angeles. We hope to share more details with our players soon. “

Reed Pop, the organizers of E3 2023, has yet to comment – but in a statement sent to us in mid-February, it said it will “be sharing news about some exciting new additions to Remastered over the next few weeks. E3 2023 ”.Apparently it has been more than a month since then.

Sony famously pulled out of E3 several years ago, but Microsoft and Nintendo have also decided to give this year’s event a swing. That doesn’t mean the summer will be devoid of gaming news, though: Geoff Keighley’s own Summer Game Fest are still scheduled to go ahead, and most major publishers and platform holders are planning their independent presentations in June.
