Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion was released on PS5 and PS4 about a week ago, and it feels like Zack Fair has enjoyed a pretty positive return. We’ve seen plenty of people say it’s their first time experiencing Crisis Core — originally a 2007 PSP title — and with Final Fantasy VII Reborn next year (if it’s not inevitably delayed It’s nice to see the square. Keep the Enix hype rolling.
We enjoyed Crisis Core back in the day, and we enjoyed it again through Reunion. Our 7/10 review concluded: “Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion is a top-notch remaster of a flawed and often hilariously awkward spinoff. But for all its angsty melodrama, Zach Fair’s story is a sweet one.” That only adds to the world of Final Fantasy VII. It’s hard not to enjoy the fanservice and completely over-the-top cinematics, while the overhauled battle system is infinitely better than before. A worthy second chance.”
