Production begins on Knuckles, a spin-off TV series from the Sonic Movies
Sonic the Hedgehog is now a successful movie franchise as well as a gaming one, with two big silver screen outings for SEGA’s mascot landing big at the box office. Things are far from over here, though – we know a third film is headed our way, and a spin-off TV series about Knuckles has also been previously announced. Speaking of which, that latter project is now moving into production.
Work has officially begun on the show, confirming the news on the official Sonic Twitter:
As reported by diversity, Idris Elba will return to voice the titular echidna. He will be joined by Adam Pally, who plays recurring character Wade Whipple in the movies and Knuckles TV show. Other confirmed talent includes Eddie Patterson, Julian Barratt, Scott Mescudi, and Ally Taylor.
The series will take place between the events of the second and third Sonic films, but little is known about what it will entail. We learn that Knuckles “agrees to train Wade as his protégé and teach him the ways of the echidna warrior”, according to Paramount.
